ANova Hacks Event

ANova Hacks is a 12-hour hackathon for high school students. Students will work in teams of four to design and code a meaningful project, attend workshops on computer science and its real-world applications, and learn about college life and life after college. Teams will be led by ANova mentors who will guide them on generating project ideas, collaborating to implement those ideas, and coming up with a final product that will be showcased during the judging process. Prizes from sponsors will be awarded to the top teams, so it is highly encouraged to build something meaningful that will impress the judges.

Anyone with an interest in technology is invited to attend ANova Hacks to learn, build, and share their creations – regardless if they have prior experience in computer science. Mentor-led workshops will review the fundamentals of computer science, apply computer science concepts to real world scenarios, and introduce software tools used in professional settings. More importantly, students will be able to gain valuable skills that aren’t necessarily taught in a traditional classroom setting, but are prevalent and necessary in the technology industry.

Hackathons are exciting opportunities for students to meet new people, learn about technology from peers and mentors, and get a glimpse of the amazing computer science community as a whole. Attendees will be able to interact on a personal level with UC Berkeley students to learn about college life and converse with industry professionals who can walk through their experiences and career progression. Students will also be exposed to topics at the forefront of technological innovation such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and virtual reality.
