College & Career

College

In the past TechFutures has worked with Ed Fund, Student Rising Above, and currently with Richmond Promise and WCCUSD. With these programs the students attend(ed) workshops which include the completion of various on-line submissions that address the complexities of college application, the financing issues (Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA), scholarships, etc…), and the final review of offer letters and the selection of a post-secondary institution.

Career

TechFutures  is working with the district and our business partners to help the students prepare for their careers. They attend workshops to help them with professional resumes, prepare them for the interview process, financial literacy. The have the opportunity to have a mentor to help them with the major decisions our students face during their high school years. TechFutures introduces the students to job shadow field trip, where the students can see what the professional world is about.

Awards

Since 2012-2013 the Whittier Educational Foundation has granted two-year college awards to deserving ITA graduates.

Selection Criteria:

  • Candidate shows a strong interest in information technology and how it might link to a future College and Career plan.
  • Performance in both academic and technical high school courses.
  • Shows an enthusiasm for learning and a commitment to continuous self improvement.
  • Contributions to the community
