El Cerrito High Launches New Maker’s Club

The El Cerrito Information Technology Academy (ITA) is excited to announce that it will be hosting the new EC Maker’s Club.

In this club, students will have the opportunity to be exposed to 3D printing, sewing, coding and much more. In addition to the club activities, students will also be able to use the space to bring in personal projects to work on. No experience will be required to join the club as the projects will be a collaborative effort among the members to share interest, knowledge and expertise. Additionally, the founding club presidents, Jane Yarnell (Senior) and Opal Minor (Sophomore) both have an abundance of experience in Maker’s Clubs and are really excited to have one at El Cerrito High. The club was created by the presidents with the intention of making a comfortable space where students are able to come in on Mondays during fourth block and after school to work on their projects and collaborate with fellow makers.

Currently, the group has around ten members and are looking for more. If interested, please speak to either club president or ITA Director, Chris Merrida.
