Rising Sun Energy Center provides home energy and water conservation assessments, installations, and education, at no cost to residents, throughout the Bay Area and Central Valley via our California Youth Energy Services (CYES) program. Since 2000, Rising Sun has served over 33,000 homes with Green House Calls and provided training and jobs to over 1,300 youth.

Job Description

Rising Sun Energy Center is looking to hire youth, 15 to 22 years old, for the Energy Specialist position with our youth employment program, California Youth Energy Services (CYES). On the job, parts of Energy Specialists will visit homes within their community by pre-scheduled appointment to help save water and energy. They will provide, at no cost to the resident:

• A basic energy and water assessment
• Installation of energy and water saving devices
• Energy and water saving tips and education

Rising Sun provides comprehensive training to all of our Energy Specialists; no prior experience is needed. If you are a hard-worker and looking to learn in an exciting and meaningful after-school job, we want you to apply!

Requirements

• Able to maintain a professional appearance and attitude
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• An effective communicator and have strong presentation skills and/or a desire to learn these skills
• If applying for a driving position: must be 18-22 years old, must have proof of a valid driver’s license, insurance and have everyday use of a car
• Able to work the full 8 weeks of October 3 – December 1, 2016 (With exception of the week of Thanksgiving, November 21-24)
• Interested in serving your community and/or preserving the environment

More Details

• Paid 8 weeks after-school job: October 3 to December 1, 2016
• Paid Training week: October 3-7, Monday-Friday, 3:30-6:30 pm
• Regular work schedule: October 10 – December 1, Monday-Thursday, 3:30-6:30 pm
• Starting pay for non-drivers: $11.60 per hour
• Starting pay for drivers: $12.60 per hour AND mileage reimbursement
