STEM Day at Merritt College

On Saturday, May 19th, Onyx Scholars is hosting our STEM Day at Merritt College in Oakland, CA.

Kapor Center of Social Impact will also partner with Onyx Scholars for this groundbreaking event.

Local high school and community college students will meet with top tech professionals and enjoy a variety of STEM activites that the entire family can enjoy!

Some of the activities will include: 

Learning to Code on Apple Swiftplaygrounds + Sphero Maze Challenge. Panel Discussion “Leveraging Student Excellence in Healthcare and Tech fields.” Also, Biotech and Virtual Reality (VR) activities.

Hadiyah Mujhid is the founder of HBCUvc, a not-for-profit organization that trains and prepares African-Americans for a career in venture capital and tech.

Jayaran Anthonypillai is the Executive Officer of Berkeley Bio Labs Inc. He consults with small companies focused on fuels, food and natural products helping them develop their R&D strategy.

Anwar Bey-Taylor is the Director and Founder of Mind Traveler Design. His design firm specializes in entertainment development for video games and film.

Hadiyah, Jayaranjan and Anwar will be our panel speakers for the upcoming discussion.

Also, students and families will have the opportunity to meet HBCU recruiters and learn more about HBCUs STEM Undergraduate Programs. HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL GET ACCEPTED ON THE SPOT!
