Summer Internship – Computer History Museum

Bay Area High School Students: Intern at the Computer History Museum this summer!

The Computer History Museum’s summer internship gives students entering 10th through 12th grade the opportunity to research, collaborate, and educate. Interns will explore the Museum’s collection to uncover key stories and artifacts in the history of innovation, and work together to bring these stories to life for museum visitors. As members of CHM’s education team, interns will play a crucial role as they help visitors of all ages to engage and make personal connections to the Museum.

Intern Role:

Throughout the summer, interns will alternate between three roles: Gallery Interpreter, Family Tour Docent and Exploration Station Guide. Gallery Interpreters will lead discussions in the Museum’s two main exhibitions, Revolution: The First 2000 Years of Computing and Make Software: Change the World! Interns will encourage visitors to ask questions and consider the ongoing impact and implications of computer history on our present and future. Interns will also develop tours appropriate for young Museum visitors and intergenerational audiences, then lead Family Tours throughout the summer. As Exploration Station Guides, interns will manage an interactive station in the lobby with genuine artifacts from computer history. They will use these artifacts to help visitors see and experience the technology that led to today’s innovations.
